Billy Willbond: Comfort Dolls
African Comfort Dolls of Joy
COMFORT DOLLS

All woollen dolls are used to pack meds
there are many sizes of dolls heads
a different colour and type of stitch
are made by the people who do the knit

Original Izzy dolls should be small
but African dolls they can be tall
some are thin and some are not
depends on how much wool they’ve got

There is no real style and it all depends
on the knitting groups and lady friends
some use the pattern and some do not
that makes the variety of dolls we’ve got

Original dolls made by Carol and Lynne
had blue hats and were small and thin
a knitting machine is run by Grace Race
and Betty Leech made a smiling face

Janet Borden is now eighty nine
she follows the pattern to the line
except when knitting she is the boss
and upon each chest there is a cross

I’ve heard expressions of Gosh and Golly
by folks who see our Mollie’s Dollies
and another thing that I’d like to tell
our Dolls are shipped by Deb and Dell

Aids Orphans Dolls from across the land
are coming in daily you will understand
We’ll carry them to Malawi Lynne Mollie and I
doll wrapped meds ease the orphan’s cry
