World famous Military Poet Awarded the Order of Australia
A kid, Tony served o’er in Vietnam – a Helo Dust off MG man
He served his Country, with courage, love, and great pride
Suffering inner turmoil because so many Aussies had died
Beautiful Maria, his young Bride, persevered, staying at his side
Tony suffered in uniform for more than 20 long years
Received hospital treatment and was pensioned in tears
As part of his therapy he wrote many’s the fine poem
Which helped many others, who just now came home!
Those who were suffering because their mates were all dead
Understood Tony’s writings – they admired what he said
He started a veteran’s website, called the I.W.V.P.A
Where Military Poets and friends can now have their say
ICROSS CANADA now has a website run by Tony Pahl
He volunteers and donates his site and has time for us all
About suffering AIDS ORPHANS and each hungry kid
He spreads the word worldwide, and we wish others did!
His Country will now give him deserved high recognition
For his helping our wounded – it’s their act of contrition
And because of this honour, poets across the world, wide
We will all applaud Tony as he stands tall with pride!
